Sir Mike, a co-host on the Ezra Adekyee show on Ezra TV/FM, has cautioned the New Patriotic Party (NPP) against selecting Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (Napo) as a running mate for the party’s presidential candidate in the 2028 general election.
Speaking during the programme, Sir Mike stated that it would be “suicidal” for the NPP to present Napo as a vice-presidential candidate in 2028, arguing that such a move could negatively affect the party’s chances at the polls.
According to him, the NPP needs to approach the 2028 elections with a strong strategy that prioritises public acceptance, unity within the party, and a ticket that can attract both core supporters and floating voters.
Sir Mike stressed that the choice of a running mate plays a major role in shaping national perception, campaign energy, and voter confidence, adding that the party must avoid decisions that could spark controversy or weaken its appeal.
His comments have already generated discussion among party faithful and political watchers, with some agreeing that the NPP must be cautious about its future leadership choices, while others insist that competence and experience should remain the key factors in selecting a running mate.
As the 2028 elections draw closer, the debate over who leads the NPP and who becomes a potential running mate is expected to dominate political discourse.
