Disgruntled supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ho Central Constituency of the Volta Region have set their party office ablaze in protest over their exclusion from recent presidential appointments by President John Dramani Mahama.
The aggrieved youth stormed the constituency office, located in the Ho Housing area, and vandalized party property.
Essential items, including party documents, plastic chairs, and tables, were burned.
The protest escalated as the youth blocked the main road in front of the party office with burning car tires and causing chaos in the area.
The Ghana National Fire Service at Ho Central intervened to extinguish the fire and prevent further damage.
Speaking to Odehyeba Owusu Job, the Deputy Constituency Secretary, Mr. Theophilus Adzanku, condemned the actions of the youth.
He described the destruction of party property as unprofessional and unnecessary.
He explained that President John Dramani Mahama is still in the process of nominating appointees and urged the youth to approach party executives for clarification instead of resorting to such destructive acts.
Mr. Adzanku disassociated the party executives from the incident and called for calm among party members and sympathizers.
He assured the public that efforts would be made to identify and bring the perpetrators to book, urging patience as the President finalizes his appointments.
