Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang begins three-week medical leave amid health concerns

Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has commenced a three-week medical leave starting April 7, 2025, following her doctor’s recommendation to prioritize her health and recovery.
This development was confirmed by sources at the Jubilee House. The Vice President’s leave follows recent health concerns that required her to seek treatment abroad after initially receiving care at the University of Ghana Medical Centre in Accra.
Meanwhile, Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, speaking during a community engagement in Lagos, Nigeria, on April 6, reassured Ghanaians that Prof. Opoku-Agyemang is recovering well and is expected to resume her duties soon.
He expressed gratitude for the prayers and support from citizens both in Ghana and abroad, attributing them to her steady recovery.
Addressing rumors surrounding her health, Mr. Ablakwa dismissed what he described as “vicious and un-Ghanaian propaganda,” urging the public to focus instead on her resilience and accomplishments.
