The lawyer for former Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, has dismissed allegations of corruption against her client, insisting that “no money is missing.”

She described Dr. Hamid as “a diligent public servant who does not engage in corruption.”

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, the lawyer criticized the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for circulating Dr. Hamid’s mugshots on social media, calling the move unnecessary and prejudicial.

“They told us the mugshots were for internal records in case a suspect cannot be found, yet the photos are now everywhere online. It’s unfortunate because Mustapha is already a public figure, and his images are widely available,” she said.

She also raised concerns about the OSP’s handling of the case, pointing to inconsistencies in the figures cited.

“Initially, they claimed GH¢1.2 million was involved; now it’s GH¢208 million. There is no evidence to support these claims, and we will prove our case in court,” she added.

Dr. Hamid and six others are expected to appear before Criminal Division 3 of the High Court on Wednesday, July 23, 2025.

They face 25 charges, including extortion by a public officer, conspiracy to commit money laundering, and money laundering, in connection with an alleged GH¢280 million scheme.

All seven accused persons are currently on inquiry bail pending trial.
