Aid me in resolving my financial difficulties, Mahama to Asantehene

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has been urged by President John Dramani Mahama to use his position of authority to assist in resolving Ghana’s economic problems.Experiences travelling in Ghana President Mahama commended the Asantehene during a visit to the Manhyia Palace for his crucial contribution to economic development in his former administration. He pledged to finish stalled and abandoned infrastructure projects, especially in the healthcare sector, as part of his renewed commitment to promoting development in the Ashanti Region. “Our nation Ghana is facing a dire economic crisis, but this is not the first time we have been in such a crisis,” Mahama stated on January 19, during the first Akwasidae festival held at the Manhyia Palace.

A high rate of inflation, macroeconomic instability, a declining value of the currency, and a debt default that has prevented us from accessing the global credit market are the hallmarks of this specific crisis. This is a more difficult task than we have ever faced in our history. As a previous president from 2013 to 2017, Your Royal Majesty, I recall that we encountered macroeconomic volatility and that there were occasionally challenges to stabilising our economy and reviving economic growth.I had the honour of asking you to use your power and diplomacy to clear the way so that it would lead to prosperity and advancement, and you never hesitated when I called on you.

And I want to express my gratitude for the cooperation we had at the time. “I will occasionally call on you again because we have inherited a challenging economic scenario. Furthermore, I am confident that you will be there whenever I call on you to collaborate on getting our country back on its feet. President Mahama was asked by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to keep all of his pledges to Ghanaians. “We would like you to please remember always the undertakings and promises you have no made,” said Dasebre Osei Bonsu II, the paramount Chief of Mampong Traditional Area, speaking on behalf of the Asantehene. I beg you to keep every promise you made to us in the great Asante kingdom.
