Akuapem South MP Hon. Lawrencia Dziwornu- Congratulates Black Queens on Semi-Finals Achievement

Hon. Lawrencia Dziwornu, Member of Parliament for Akuapem South and a member of the Youth and Sports Committee, spoke on the floor of Parliament about the Black Queens’ contribution. Hon. Dziwornu expressed much pride and joy seeing the Black Queens propel to the semi-finals stage of the tournament.

Hon. Dziwornu noted that the Black Queens defeated Algeria in a penalty shootout, 4-2, with Cynthia Klonam making two crucial saves. Aside from this feat, 20 members of the Black Queens have made appearances at the African stage and are making significant impacts.

The MP highlighted that aside from the first match where results weren’t as expected, the Black Queens have received the “woman of the match” award in almost every game they’ve played:
– Grace Asantewaa won against Algeria.
– Shantel Boye Hawker won against Tanzania.
– Jennifer Cudjoe won against Mali.

Hon. Lawrencia Dziwornu extended congratulations to the Black Queens for their significant strides in advancing to the semi-finals. She expressed belief that destiny might lead them to lift the trophy and bring it home at the end of the tournament.

Hon. Dziwornu Called on the minister, Committee, and government to increase funding prorities for Women’s football in the budget, Hon.Dziwornu ecouraged the sports minister to improve facilities in various sports settings to support women in advancing and lifting the trophy.
