Hon. Samuel Jinapor Exposes NDC’s Double Stance on the Anti-LGBTQ Bill in Parliament

Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor calls out the NDC for its inconsistent position on the Anti-LGBTQ Bill during a heated parliamentary session, highlighting contradictions between their domestic promises and international actions.

During a spirited debate on the floor of Parliament 28th October, 2025. Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor, Member of Parliament for Damongo, delivered a powerful contribution exposing what he described as the NDC’s double stance on the Anti-LGBTQ Bill.

Hon. Jinapor took the floor to challenge the opposition’s inconsistency regarding Ghana’s position on LGBTQ+ issues. He argued that while the NDC publicly supports the Anti-LGBTQ Bill in Ghana, their government’s recent conduct on the international stage paints a different picture.

According to him, the NDC’s mixed signals endorsing “family values” locally yet abstaining or softening their stance in global human rights discussions represent a clear contradiction that undermines the country’s moral and political integrity.

“You cannot claim to defend Ghanaian values at home and then act differently before the international community,” Jinapor stated emphatically, calling for sincerity and consistency in the nation’s moral and legislative commitments.

He further noted that Ghana’s position should be guided by national values, traditions, and laws, not by external pressure or shifting political convenience. His remarks drew attention across the chamber, sparking debate among both Majority and Minority MPs.

Observers viewed Jinapor’s intervention as a bold call for accountability and ideological clarity, urging political parties to remain firm on the moral principles they espouse before the Ghanaian people.

The discussion over the Anti-LGBTQ Bill  officially known as the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill  continues to dominate the national conversation. The Bill seeks to reinforce Ghana’s stance on sexuality and family structure, a subject that remains deeply tied to the nation’s cultural and religious identity.

Hon. Jinapor’s comments serve as a reminder that consistency between rhetoric and action remains a cornerstone of credible governance. His message challenges all parties, particularly the NDC, to align their words with their deeds when it comes to protecting Ghana’s social and moral values.
