Maureen Honda-Mbuende appointed as interim MD of Namibia National Petroleum corporation

The member of parliament for Amenfi Central in the western region, Hon. Joana Gyan-Cudjoe, has congratulated her friend, Maureen Hinda-Mbuende, on her appointment as Interim Managing Director of Namibia’s National Petroleum Corporation (NAMCOR), effective August 25, 2025. Hon. Gyan-Cudjoe expressed confidence in Hinda-Mbuende’s ability to deliver, stating, “My adorable sister, I personally know you will deliver. Go make us proud”.
This gesture highlights the growing connections between Ghanaian leaders and their counterparts in other African nations. The two leaders have previously discussed collaborative opportunities in the gold industry, leveraging natural resources to boost economic growth in both Ghana and Namibia. They also emphasized the importance of African unity, empowering youth, supporting micro and small enterprises, and driving sustainable development initiatives.
Maureen Hinda-Mbuende’s appointment has been well-received, with Deputy Prime Minister Natangwe Ithete expressing confidence in her leadership. With her experience and determination, Hinda-Mbuende is expected to guide NAMCOR through current challenges, driving efficiency, innovation, and national impact. Her background includes serving as Namibia’s Deputy Finance Minister and Public Enterprises, and she has been a member of the National Assembly.
