Residents of Kasoa New Market in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region are in shock after the body of a three-day-old baby was found dumped near the Okrudu River.
According to reports, the infant is alleged to have been killed by the mother, who then disposed of the body by the riverside for reasons yet unknown.
Eyewitnesses told Adom News that by the time the body was discovered, animals had already begun feeding on it.
Nash Nyande, Director of the Awutu Senya East National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), said the police were immediately informed, and the corpse was retrieved and deposited at the Police Hospital mortuary.
Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the suspect.
