One killed in chieftaincy dispute at Bawjiase

One individual has died as a consequence of a violent altercation at Awutu Bawjiase in the Central Region’s Awutu Senya West District.

Around 10:45 p.m., a group of armed people who seemed to be land guards broke into the Bawjiase chief’s palace.

The assassination occurred before of tomorrow’s planned outdooring ceremony for new leader Nai Nana Kwaku Osardu (III).

Police sources claim that when the armed gang attacked the chief’s palace, some family members were present getting ready for the event.

One man, who seemed to be in his 30s, was shot and killed during the mayhem.

A 25-year-old chieftaincy dispute within the Awutu Bawjiase community was just settled earlier this year by the National House of Chiefs.

The violent turn of events was especially startling because the community had believed that the National House of Chiefs’ verdict would put an end to the long-running conflict.
