The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has summoned the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board following the circulation of a viral video showing Sammy Gyamfi publicly distributing money. The footage, which has drawn widespread criticism, has sparked concerns about the ethical standards expected of individuals in public office.

In the video—now widely shared across social media—Mr. Gyamfi is seen handing cash to Nana Agradaa, an act many believe undermines President John Dramani Mahama’s newly launched Code of Conduct for Public Officials. This code, a key pillar of the government’s anti-corruption initiative, emphasizes integrity, transparency, and accountability in public service.

Mr. Gyamfi responded to the controversy in a statement issued on Sunday, May 11, expressing regret over the incident. He described it as a personal gesture of generosity with no intent to attract public attention.

Nevertheless, sources within the Presidency reveal that the Chief of Staff is handling the matter with great seriousness, given its potential political fallout and the possible damage to the administration’s reputation.
