Mahama to Break Ground for Sekondi–Takoradi–Cape Coast Highway Dualization on October 21

President John Dramani Mahama will on Monday, October 21, cut the sod for the commencement of the Sekondi–Takoradi–Cape Coast Highway dualization project.
The ceremony, which will take place in the Western Region, marks a major step in the government’s plan to improve Ghana’s road network and boost economic activities along the coastal corridor.
The project will see the existing single-lane highway expanded into a modern dual carriageway connecting the Central and Western regions. It aims to ease traffic congestion, enhance road safety, and facilitate trade between key industrial and commercial centers.
According to the Ministry of Roads and Highways, the dualization forms part of a broader national infrastructure development agenda under President Mahama’s administration. The initiative seeks to modernize transport systems, reduce travel time, and promote regional integration.
President Mahama is expected to be joined by the Roads and Highways Minister, regional ministers, traditional leaders, and other stakeholders at the sod-cutting ceremony.
Construction work is expected to commence soon after the event.
