Bekwai circuit court has sentenced a 36-year old Teacher, John Ankomah Boateng to 10 years imprisonment in hard labor for stealing Bosomefreho Rural Bank Limited in the Ashanti region.

He pleaded guilty on the charge of stealing and was convicted on his own plea and handed this jail terms accordingly by court presided by His Honour Isaac Apietu

Prosecution led by  Detective Chief Inspector Eric Twum and Judge Isaac Apietu said the complaint David Asare Atianeere who is the internal auditor for Bosomefreho Rural Bank limited.

John Ankomah Boateng is teacher at freso SDA junior High school in the Bosomefreho District. Between 9th February, 2024 to 26th February, 2024 the accused person fraudulently made a withdrawal to tune of GH¢238.550.99, using the Ghana pay application, while his account balance Gh¢2.23.

On the 28th February 2024, the complaint report the case to the Regional CID Ashanti South and the accused person was arrested on the 13th March, 2024.

In his caution statement the accused person admitted the offense and stated that he transferred GH¢10.000.00, GH¢5,000.00 GH¢20.000.00 and GH¢5,000, to one Isaac Kwaku Duah and Neymar respectively for safe keeping. That he also transferred GH¢40.000.00 to travel agent to process traveling documents for him.
