Global InfoAnalytics, a respected research firm, has shared key insights into why Ghanaians overwhelmingly voted against the NPP in the 2024 General Election.
Leading up to the December 7 election, the firm, headed by Musah Dankwa, accurately predicted a clear victory for John Mahama and the NDC, forecasting 52.1% of the vote for Mahama, with his main rival, Bawumia, trailing at 41.4%.
The December 9 results confirmed Mahama’s win, with 6,382,397 votes (56.55%), and Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia securing 4,657,304 votes (41.61%).
Dr. Eugene Kumi Arhin, Senior Research Fellow at Global InfoAnalytics, attributed the election outcome to three major factors: the deteriorating economy, rising unemployment, and the challenges created by the double-track system in Free SHS, which hindered students’ learning.
He emphasized that these issues played a significant role in Ghanaians’ decision to reject the NPP.
Dr. Kumi Arhin also reaffirmed that the firm’s predictions were based on rigorous ground research. “We went to the grounds and we knew Mahama would win ‘one touch,’” he said.
Despite past criticisms, the firm’s success in forecasting the results only strengthens their resolve to continue their work.
