Two people have died in a fatal accident at Kormantse on the Mankessim–Cape Coast stretch of the Accra–Cape Coast Highway.
The crash, which occurred on Saturday, left several others injured.
According to the Mankessim Fire Rescue Team, a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter bus with registration number AS 4146-25, heading towards Accra, collided head-on with a Hino truck with registration number GW 5958-25 traveling in the opposite direction.
Most of the passengers managed to escape with the help of passersby, while the rescue team extricated two victims who were trapped in the wreckage and confirmed dead.
Several injured persons were rushed to the Saltpond Government Hospital for treatment.
The Ghana Police Service has launched investigations into the incident. Eyewitnesses, however, suspect wrongful overtaking led to the crash.
