Founding President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has reacted to the fact that the MP for Shai Osudoku and

Minister-designate for Greater Accra, Linda Ocloo, was not asked any questions during her vetting.

The policy advisor described it as a pity that the minister-nominee was not pressed to justify her competence and vision for the region.

“So, who is the nominated Greater Accra Region’s minister? What are her plans to make Accra look pretty, spatially livable, attract more tourists, and improve the livelihoods of indigenous Ga people? Pity the Appointments Committee discharged her without asking a single question,” Franklin Cudjoe wrote in a social media post.

Background:

The minister-nominee appeared before Parliament’s Appointments Committee

on Tuesday, January 28, for her vetting as Greater Accra Regional Minister, but not a single question was posed to her.

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, known for his active questioning as a Ranking Member, simply praised Ocloo for her conduct in Parliament, acknowledged the delegation she came with, and dismissed her without further scrutiny.

As a result, there is no insight into her vision, policies, or plans for addressing issues in the region that houses the nation’s capital, Accra.

The committee, which typically has the mandate to scrutinize nominees, missed a crucial opportunity to assess her competence and leadership, letting the moment pass without any meaningful engagement.
