The Western Regional Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with a brazen daylight robbery that occurred at Nyanikrom near Shama Junction on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.

According to a statement signed by Superintendent Olivia E.T. Adiku, Head of the Public Affairs Unit at the Regional Police Headquarters in Sekondi, the arrests followed a targeted surveillance operation based on credible intelligence.
The suspects allegedly planned the robbery using insider information, aiming to intercept company funds that had been withdrawn from a bank in Takoradi for salary payments.

The incident occurred around 12:00 p.m. as company staff were returning from the bank. Near the Unique School Junction at Nyanikrom, they were ambushed by suspects riding a motorbike and using an unregistered sedan vehicle. The suspects forcefully broke the vehicle’s window and made away with the cash.
However, thanks to prior surveillance in the area, police personnel responded promptly and arrested three suspects. They also recovered a total of GHC149,500.00, believed to be the stolen money.

The suspects have been identified as:

Francis Mensah alias Francis Kwaw, 34 years
Ebenezer Cofie, 32 years
Samuel Bentum, 35 years

All three are currently in police custody assisting with ongoing investigations.
Additionally, a company driver, Maxwell Kofi Yeboah, is believed to have conspired with the suspects and is currently on the run. Police have launched a manhunt to locate and apprehend him.

The Police Command has assured the public that efforts are underway to arrest the remaining suspect and ensure all those involved are brought to justice.
