Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, The Member of Parliament for South Dayi,
, has issued a stern warning about potential political repercussions, asserting that there will be accountability if the National Democratic Congress (NDC) assumes power on January 7, 2025.
He expressed strong disapproval of the Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, characterizing his conduct and that of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as a flagrant violation of legal protocols.
This statement comes in the wake of the re-collation and announcement of results for seven out of nine contested parliamentary seats, which were declared in Favour of the NPP following a High Court ruling.
Dafeamekpor articulated significant apprehensions regarding the political strategies employed by the NPP, alleging that the party resorted to unscrupulous methods to secure seven parliamentary seats.
He particularly criticized Afenyo-Markin for what he described as misleading claims aimed at bolstering his public statements. Dafeamekpor further accused the NPP of engaging in political manipulation to gain more parliamentary seats, warning that such actions would not go unchallenged under an NDC administration.
“When a matter is in court, don’t you respect the judicial process? Today [December 21], Afenyo is holding a press conference, praising the outcomes of exercises that are still pending before the Supreme Court. And then he tells me to accept it in good faith because we are brothers. We are not brothers, Afenyo, we are not.
“Some of these falsehoods, Afenyo should desist from this conduct. He must stop concocting stories to embellish his press conferences. They may hold government positions now, but the real power has slipped from their grasp and is transitioning to us [NDC].
“When we take over, we will demonstrate where true power lies,” Dafeamekpor said during an interview with TV3 on Saturday, 21 December, during the re-collation process at the EC’s Greater Accra regional office.
